What this tool does
This tool opens a ZIP in your browser and lists every entry inside it, so you can take just the file you need — or download them all at once. The archive never has to be uploaded: it is read from your disk, expanded in memory, and handed back to you as ordinary files.
Unlike typical online unzip services there is no sign-up, no extraction limit, and no copy of your archive left on a server. Folder structure is preserved exactly as stored, and file names are read as UTF-8, so extracted files can be dropped straight into a project folder.
How to use
- Step 1: choose the archive Drop the .zip file onto the area above, or click to pick it. The tool checks the file signature and the encryption flag first, so an encrypted archive is reported immediately instead of stalling.
- Step 2: browse the entries Once unpacked you get a row per entry with its name and size. For deep archives the full relative path is shown, so you can tell which subfolder each file came from.
- Step 3: download what you need Use the download button on a row to take a single file, or "Download all" to trigger every file in sequence. Browsers such as Chrome ask for permission when several downloads start at once — allow it to continue.
Limits
The upload limit is 200MB, and all extracted entries live in memory at the same time, so archives that expand far beyond that may run out of memory (you get a clear error instead of corrupted output). Encrypted ZIPs are not supported — no password cracking is attempted. RAR, 7z and multi-volume ZIPs are also out of scope.
FAQ
Can it open an encrypted ZIP?
No. If the encryption flag is set the tool reports "this ZIP is encrypted". Password cracking is deliberately out of scope — use a local tool such as 7-Zip when you know the password.
Will Chinese file names be garbled?
Archives that set the UTF-8 flag (the standard) display correctly. Older tools that stored names in a local codepage without setting the flag may show mojibake — that reflects the archive metadata, not the extraction step.
Why is an entry missing from the list?
Entries containing .. path segments, absolute paths starting with /, or Windows drive letters are dropped by the safety policy to prevent Zip Slip style writes outside the intended folder.
Are there limits on size or number of extractions?
No usage limit and no account required. A single archive may be up to 200MB and the entry count is unbounded, subject to available memory.
Is my archive stored or analysed?
No. Extraction happens in your browser and no bytes are sent anywhere: open the Network panel in your dev tools to confirm that unpacking produces no upload request.
Does it support RAR or 7z?
Not yet. RAR involves decoder licensing and 7z needs an extra WASM dependency; both are being evaluated for a later batch. The existing ZIP pack/extract pair already covers the common workflow.
