What this tool does
Add a text watermark with control over position, opacity and size to mark copyright or provenance.
The watermark is drawn straight into the pixels, so any viewer will show it. Dimensions stay the same and processing happens entirely in your browser.
Position matters: bottom right is the industry convention and rarely covers the subject; portfolios often use centre or bottom left to read as a signature; if cropping is a risk, use a smaller size placed slightly below centre. Opacity between 40% and 60% is the sweet spot — under 20% it disappears over light areas, over 80% it visibly interferes with the image.
How to use
- Drop an image PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 50MB.
- Enter the text and pick a position “© name year” is the common pattern. Around 45% opacity is visible without hiding the content.
- Download JPEG stays JPEG; otherwise PNG. Use the compress tool afterwards if you need a smaller file to send.
FAQ
Can the watermark be removed?
It can be cropped or painted over, but the text is in the pixels and cannot be removed by editing metadata.
Why white text with a shadow?
White stands out on dark areas and the shadow provides contrast on light ones, which covers most photos.
Can I add a logo watermark or tile it?
This version supports a single text watermark only: no image watermarks and no tiling.
Does the watermark reduce quality?
Re-encoding costs one generation of quality, which is usually invisible in practice.
Can I process several images?
One at a time here; batch is a separate tool.
How do I keep the same settings across a batch?
Fix the text, position, opacity and font size: their relative effect depends only on image width, so the same settings look consistent on both small and large images. Files are processed one at a time, but you do not have to re-enter the settings.
Is my image uploaded?
No — all processing happens inside your browser.
Limits
