What this tool does

Rendering PDF pages as bitmaps covers the frequent needs: illustrations for slides, posting to social media, pasting an "uncopyable file" into a chat, or delivering a print-shop-ready final. Unlike screenshots, programmatic rendering guarantees a complete page, precise edges and controlled resolution.

Pick a page range (e.g. 1-3, 5) and a scale (1–4×), choose lossless PNG or smaller JPG; multiple pages are packed into a ZIP for one download. Rendering is done by pdf.js inside your browser — the file never leaves your device.

How to use

  1. Drop the PDF and pick pages All pages are converted by default; fill a range (1-3, 5) for a subset. Out-of-range specs error out instead of being silently truncated.
  2. Choose format and scale PNG at 2× (≈144 DPI) for screens; JPG to save space; 3×+ for printing. Higher scale means sharper but bigger and slower.
  3. Download the ZIP Multi-page output arrives as page-01.png, page-02.png… (zero-padded, sorted). Single-page runs use the same ZIP structure for consistency.

FAQ

What determines the sharpness?

The scale: 1× ≈ 72 DPI (barely), 2× ≈ 144 DPI (crisp), 3× ≈ 216 DPI (print-grade). Text and vectors stay sharp at any scale; only embedded raster images are bounded by their original resolution.

Why no transparent background in JPG?

JPG has no alpha channel. The tool paints white before JPG export (matching most print/reading scenarios); choose PNG for transparency.

How about scanned (image-only) PDFs?

Bounded by the scan resolution — no scale recovers detail that was never captured. 2× is a good default; for 300 DPI scans, 2–3× matches the original quality.

How do I write a page range?

all = everything; 3 for one page; 1-3 for a run; mixed like 1-3, 5, 8-9 (comma-separated). Out-of-range or inverted ranges error out clearly.

What about encrypted PDFs?

Files with encryption markers are intercepted; remove the password in the original environment first.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Rendering runs in a browser Worker; the file never leaves your device.

Limits

Scale 1–4×; higher scales are memory-bounded (large pages at 4× already reach hundreds of megapixels).

Output is always zipped; per-page sizes or mixed formats are not supported.

Encrypted PDFs are rejected; up to 100MB per file.
