What this tool does
A phone photo came out sideways, a scan is upside down, a screenshot needs mirroring for comparison — rotation plus flip fixes all of these in one step. This tool supports 90° / 180° / 270° clockwise rotation and horizontal/vertical mirroring, swapping width and height automatically at 90/270°.
Output is always lossless PNG: pixels are moved as-is with no re-encoding loss, and the original's EXIF metadata (such as GPS location) is stripped along the way. Everything runs in your browser; photos are never uploaded.
How to use
- Pick angle and flip Rotation is clockwise; "horizontal" mirrors left-right (great for selfies), "vertical" flips top-bottom (water-reflection effect). Both can combine.
- Drop the image and download PNG / JPG / WebP input is supported; the output name carries a rotated- prefix. Not satisfied? Just re-drop and try again.
FAQ
Can I rotate by arbitrary angles like 45°?
No. Arbitrary angles require resampling and introduce blur; 90° steps are strictly lossless. For straightening scans (within ±10°), use a dedicated deskew tool.
Why is the output PNG?
Rotation is pixel relocation and PNG guarantees zero loss; keeping JPG would mean another lossy encode. If size matters, run the result through the compressor afterwards.
Does the Orientation flag survive?
It is gone — PNG output carries no EXIF. Usually a good thing: display no longer depends on how a viewer interprets the orientation flag.
Horizontal vs vertical flip?
Horizontal = left-right swap (a mirror); vertical = top-bottom swap (a reflection). Pick the wrong one and flip again — or combine both for a 180° effect.
Are animated GIF/APNG supported?
No. Rotating animation requires per-frame handling with timing preservation — a separate tool scenario.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Rotation runs in a browser Worker; the file never leaves your device.
Limits
90°-multiple rotation and mirroring only; no arbitrary angles or cropping (use the resize tool for that).
Output is always PNG; input PNG / JPG / WebP, up to 50MB per file.
No per-frame animation support; output drops EXIF and other metadata.
