What this tool does
EXIF remover strips the privacy metadata embedded in a photo: capture time, camera brand and model, lens settings, and most sensitively the GPS location. You get a clean image with no personal traces.
Run it before sharing a photo so you do not also send “when, where and with which phone” along with it. Everything happens locally in your browser — the image is not uploaded.
How to use
- Prepare a JPG or PNG photo From a phone or camera; up to 20MB each.
- Drop or choose the image Drop the image into the dashed area, or click to pick a file; the format is auto-detected.
- Download the clean image After processing, hit download to get a same-format image named with a “cleaned-” prefix; pixels are untouched.
FAQ
Does it change image quality?
No. Only metadata is removed, pixels are never re-compressed, so quality is identical.
Is the GPS location removed?
Yes. GPS is part of EXIF and is removed by the default scope; “All metadata” is even more thorough.
Is my image uploaded?
No. Processing happens entirely on your device.
Does it support HEIC / WebP?
Not yet. Only JPG and PNG are accepted for now; they cover most phone photos and screenshots.
What if there is no EXIF to begin with?
It returns the file unchanged — no error, no harm to the image.
Can it process several at once?
One image at a time for now; batch clearing is a later enhancement.
Limits
Up to 20MB per image; JPG and PNG only. No re-compression, no resolution change. One image at a time.
Only metadata segments/chunks are dropped; it does not repair damaged images and will report unprocessable files.
